Cristiano Ronaldo Has To Mature His Game - Fernando Redondo

Cristiano Ronaldo signed for the Merengues last month for €94 million, and despite being the current holder of several individual awards, former Real Madrid holding midfielder Fernando Redondo believes the Portuguese still has some areas of his game he can work on.

"He is a player with a lot of talent, but I believe he has to mature his game, that is my personal opinion," Redondo told Ole. "Sometimes he wears himself out in some areas of the field unnecessarily, he should channel his efforts in other areas.

The former Argentina international, who considers Barcelona to be "the best team in the world at the moment", praised Lionel Messi and added that his compatriot can still evolve.

He stated, "I believe Messi still has a lot more, especially because we are all waiting to see him at the World Cup, no? He is a player that surprises me, besides his skills and the speed he plays the ball with, it surprises me how good his decisions are. A traquility... That is very difficult."

Redondo also commented on the situation of Juan Roman Riquelme, who has refused to play for Argentina under Diego Maradona, saying, "If you ask me about Riquelme, I want him in the national team. I want the best. I am happy that [Juan Sebastian] Veron is there and I wish Riquelme was there. But I am very respectful."
