Cristiano Ronaldo: It Would Be Bad If I Was Playing Well For Real Madrid Already

Cristiano Ronaldo completed a record-breaking €94 million switch from Manchester United to Real Madrid last summer, but he has so far been unable to find the form which saw him excel in England.
The gifted winger has now stated that it is perfectly normal and insists he will be at his best when the official season kicks off.

"I am feeling fine, I am regaining form little by little. Of course I wanted to be better but that is not how things are, these things take their time," he told SIC.

"I am confident, when the seasons starts I am sure I will be fine to help Real Madrid reach their goals.

"It would be bad if I was playing really well already, I would not be in form halfway through the season. My goal is to regain form, little by little. I am tranquil, I have been working very well and I am sure things will improve."

Ronaldo was the subject of criticism from the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Gilberto Madail, and the Portugal head coach, Carlos Queiroz, last week as the pair questioned the ex-Sporting man's commitment to the national side after the Merengues prevented him from playing in a friendly against Liechtenstein because of a flu.

The Real star has now lamented the remarks made about him, and declared he sees no reason for anyone to be so judgmental.

"I just want to be more respected, I played for the national team one day after my father passed away, people do not see those things," Ronaldo added. "I am very sad to know that the Portuguese people have doubts about what I am, what I was and what I will be for the national team.

"Of course I did not like those critiques, those were very bad critiques. I do not know why they do it, the press, even the president and Queiroz. I think they know me very well, they know who I am and so it makes me really sad that people doubt what I have, but okay, there are people like this."
